| About Graham |
|
Graham went on to study at night school as a mature student, graduating from Manchester University Business School with a Business Degree and Diploma in Marketing Management. He went on to have a successful twenty year business career in manufacturing, working for companies such as BAE Systems and Hewlett Packard, eventually becoming a Company Director.
He has always served his local community, spending four years as a Special Constable in the Cheshire Constabulary and ten years as a local Councillor in Macclesfield. At Macclesfield Borough Council, he served on the Community Development Committee and was part of a team of Conservative Councillors that took the Council’s Audit Commission rating from “poor” in 2000 to “good” in just four years.
In July 2007, he was selected by a primary open to all residents of Weaver Vale, regardless of which party they normally support. For three years he tirelessly campaigned across the constituency, calling for tough action on crime and fighting against Labour’s post office closures.
Graham was elected as Member of Parliament for Weaver Vale, gaining the seat from Labour with a swing of over 8%, in what was one of the best results across the country. He has pledged to work hard for all constituents and put them before everything else in politics, including his own party.
In his spare time Graham loves history (specialising in military, social, economic and political history) and has a good size library on the subject. He is also a keen sportsman, especially football and is a lifelong Manchester United supporter.
Above all, Graham is a family man, and loves spending time with his wife Cheryl and three young children, George, Tom and Sophie. They live in Cheshire, in the village of Rainow. |
Graham is a local Cheshire man, born on a council estate in Poynton. He attended his local comprehensive school, leaving with few qualifications, and went on to work in a nearby supermarket stacking shelves.
