MP talks serious business in Frodsham

NEWLY-ELECTED MP Graham Evans met local businessmen at Frodsham Business Centre on Monday – ahead of the coalition Government’s emergency budget.

Mr Evans, MP for Weaver Vale, met company bosses to find out how the centre helped startup businesses and to outline his plans to support firms during the ongoing economic troubles.

“This week’s emergency budget took the tough decisions and the decisive action required to sort our National Debt Crisis. But the long term aim is to rebuild the economy so that it is less reliant on the financial sector and strengthened by local businesses like those I have met today in Frodsham.” said Mr Evans.

“As the MP for Weaver Vale I am working extremely hard to promote and support local businesses and ensure that Cheshire gets the investment it deserves.”

“A great deal of money is invested in the cities of Liverpool and Manchester but business owners and other tax payers in Cheshire pay a lot of money into the funding pot and do not get fair return on their investment.  This isn’t fair and I want to make sure that hard working people in Weaver Vale get a fairer level of funding for their efforts.”

IT specialists Medhurst North West Ltd, laboratory equipment firm Quality Measurement Solutions, business consultancy Clifford Price Associates, and market research company MarketChecker were amongst the local business that attended the meeting.

Simon Longden, from Frodsham Business Centre, said he was delighted the local MP had made time to speak to businesses leaders in person.

“I spoke before the election about the need for politicians to support local businesses to help provide long-term stability for the local and national economy,” he said.

“It is encouraging that Mr Evans has been able to meet with local businesses so early in his role as Weaver Vale MP and I hope that by working together with firms here at Frodsham Business Centre and other local companies we can continue to make the area a fantastic place to work and do business.”
